Beijing! We’ve finally arrived!
We took a 5.5 hour train ride away from shenyang’s freezing winds and were greeted by the sultry Norcal-like weather of Beijing. Today was not bad for running on three hours of sleep. One noticeable thing was the cleanliness of the air. It’s amazing here. It’s been a while since i’ve breathed air that didn’t reek of car exhaust and cigarette smoke. And our hotel… oh my… it’s about 3.5 times bigger than ibis, and better in every aspect by 100 fold.
Went through the streets and had some decent street food. Had some fried scorpions! Yum!
Tomorrow Should be interesting!

CLimbed The Great Wall of China Today. That thing is extremely steep. Much steeper than I had anticipated it would be. Chris and I had a race up this especially steep section of the wall… yeah… i need to get into better running shape. Eeeks…

Today I played hacky-sack at Tianamen Square, toured the streets of the Forbidden City, played monopoly deal out at a McDonald’s in front some Chinese military museum, watched an amazing display of chinese acrobatics on ice, had ostrich meat, venison, chicken hearts, cow intestine, and was bumped/rubbed/groped/ground upon by men/women/children/elderly alike…
Overall, an excellent day with my five companions (Chris D, Jon Luu, Erica K, Stephanie C and Christopher Ng) .
Hacky sacking with all those people in the forbidden city. =D
We went to dinner last night over at Joseph’s! It was quite fun. He made some awesome spicy rice with pork fat and sardines. Then I had an asian squatting contest with Joseph. He won. I am ashamed and apologize to all asians. We played human bumpers cars after that and called it a night … Ha, so much for studying!
Today, had chinese and SS… didn’t get as much studying done as I had wanted. Shutter Island at stephanie’s. Trippy movie.
Bejing in a few hours. We’re going to the train station at 6.
